Platform business companies are springing up everywhere. What we’re seeing is that the platform business model is a huge piece of how a lot of big companies are planning their futures. Most businesses these days look at platforms as the new hope. But ‘platformising’ a ‘bad’ business does not make it a ‘good’ business. Today most platform companies lose money, in some cases billions of dollars. To platform or not to platform? That is an essential question for anyone looking to start a platform startup.
Even as this paradigm is creeping into our lives under names like Grab, Instagram or Tiki, how many companies are doing well with this model in Vietnam? Is this the right choice for founders who are struggling to find their company’s path?
